    Single shot follower

I ordered one for a long and short action from SSS. My long action follower fit perfectly. My short action one does not fit at all. It seems to thick to me, and contacts my bolt half way down the raceways. I got an email from SSS about how to fix this, but I aint to fond of filing on my own guns. Here is the email.

    Hi Steve,
I just discussed this with the boss.

He explained to me how some of the receivers have a smaller cut in them.
They are actually all cut the same but then when they go through the heat
treating at the factory, they warp and change.

Here's the solution. File a small amount off of the rear of the ramp. This
will allow the ramp to fall back into place and seat properly.

Just let us know if you have any questions.

    Sounds easy enough to me.

You don't file the gun.....you file the rear end of the ramp. By shortening the length of the ramp, it slides to the rear and lower on the cartridge ramp in the receiver.

Alright, is this the area to file?? Also would it be easier on a grinding wheel??

It's aluminum so it will plug up a grinding wheel. Take a file to it. Take a "little at a time" off till it's a snug fit in the action.
Stuff the front end in the mag opening of the action. Tap the back end up in place. Open and close the bolt and check for clearence. Adjust as necessary. Clean all the surfaces and glue it in place. Bedding, epoxy, or anything that will do the job.
