They are right, it won't work.
They will shoot, but ruin the barrel and be VERY inaccurate. Stick with 227 diameter bulles for the High Power.
please give me some feed back
I'm thinking about aqiuring a savage 22 HP and would like to be able to reload some .224 bullets instead of the standard .227/.228 bullets used in the 22HP,But have been told that this won't work,or at least not work very well.does anyone have any opinions?
thanks

Some people get decent results, some get horrible. Depends on how worn your barrel is.
Dcloco - how will an undersized bullet ruin the barrel?
Buffalo Arms has some pretty reasonably priced 227 bullets that are lighter (shorter) than the Hornady bullets. They work a lot better in my Savage. I think the twist on the 1899 barrels is marginal at best for the 70 grain bullet.
