    Laminate stock tang

    Hello,
I have an 110, laminate stock,in 270 win that needs the tang area relieved of some wood.
This rifle has always only shot average 1 1/2 to 2" groups, and I know it will do better.
I have relieved some other stocks before, but none were laminate, and in all cases the groups shrank up.
Do I need to "seal" the stock after I relieve it ?
If I do, what do I use to seal it ?
Also, do I have to seal it as soon as it is done, or can I store it in my gun safe with a golden rod dehumidifier, and seal it later.
I can relive it today, but I do not have any type of sealer, to seal it today.
    Thanks

Laminated wood is about as stable as anything within reason. As long as you don't take it out in the rain or anything you'll be fine. I wouls seal it as soon as you can to keep oil and such from staining it, but it's not a "must do right away" thing. TruOil is a gunstock finish that's readily available and works pretty well.

If you have some polyurethane around 2 thin coats is all you need. You can also use some butchers wax and apply a couple coats but it will not last forever and needs to be redone occasionally.
