    Fixing holes in AccuStock

Okay... I have a 10PC-SR w/ an Accustock. Drilled a couple holes in it for an aftermarket cheekpiece; decided that particular brand/model just doesn't do it for me and am going back to a Karsten. Unfortunately the hole spacing doesn't line up, so I'll need to fill and patch the holes. I was thinking of spraying some Great Stuff expanding foam (the stuff for around window and doors) in there and once it sets up, trimming/cleaning things up and then sealing with some epoxy, then drilling new holes for the replacement cheekpiece. Anybody here done this or something similar? Am I on the right track?

I see no reason why that wouldn't work.

The foam would work fine, but I would use a small dremel bit to back-bevel the holes(beveled towards the inside) and then tape over the holes before you shoot the foam in. The foam will come out flush and denser on the surface and a drop of paint will cover.

Sweet. Now I just need to order a new Karsten cheekpiece in so I have it on hand before I take the other one off

See if Savage will send you some waste from the actual polymer they use. That's the secret to plugging and seamles finishing. Got that from a retired plastics guy at the local Navy Yard.

Ok. then, see if Savage can get some waste material from the supplier.

The holes, once filled and sealed, are just going to be covered again by the next cheek piece I put on there... so I don't think its much of an issue

Good idea, though. I'd rather they just send me one of the 'new' brown digi-camo stocks w/ the CDI bottom metal for AI mags, though. ;D
