    Model 14 Classic Question

Hi all, new to the forum.
I just received my new Classic in 243, and was wondering if anyone knows what finish is on the model 14?
It has a plastic look, kinda like they took some shrink-wrap plastic and applied it with a heat gun.
I'm thinking of stripping it this winter and giving it a nice hand rubbed oil finish.
Just curious to what is on the rifle.
    Thanks

    Re: Model 14 Classic Question

I have seen the factory stocks both ways. My 25-06 has the oil finish look however most Classics I have seen have had the shiney look to them.

Instead of stripping and redoing yours maybe you could locate a short action Classic stock for sale with an oil finish, buy it and then offer yours up for sale. Might be tough to get yours stripped and cleaned up well without damaging the checkering. Just a thought. TB

That's a good idea. If I can't find one, I can do the refinish at a later date.
    Thanks
