    Lothar Walther Barrels

Does anybody out there have any experience with Lothar Walther pre-fit Savage barrels? If so, how do you like them? Accuracy? Easy to clean?

    Thanks

I have one in a 6BR varmint contour (8 twist). It shoots good, in the .2's (with 105 amax), and is easy to clean. I've only got about 500 or so rounds down it so I'm not sure if the "tougher stainless" they use actually does give you longer barrel life.

I do not have any experience with Walther barrels but I think you can get a better deal with a McGowen barrel, they been doing this in Montana since 1958 etc. They do have Savage pre-barrels. You go look up their websight ok!

I have already looked at McGowan thanks. I have also heard a good bit about some of their screw ups and poor customer service.

I already have one Lothar Walther but it is an AR-15 match barrel that I used to build a coyote rifle. It is an absolute hammer and very easy to clean but was just interested in hearing about their Savage barrels.

    I have two of them, a 28" 243 Winchester 8 twist and a 24" 223 Remington 12 twist

    I would buy them again.

I have one in 6mm Norma BR, 1 in 8 twist, 28" and it shoots in the .2s for me when I do my part. I have 300 rounds down the tube to date and have no copper fouling what so ever.

I have one in 243, shoots 87 Vmax's into one hole at 100 yards. Doesn't foul out quickly. Cleans up easily.

    I would buy another one.

I re-barreled my model 12 with a LW barrel in 7x57. I would buy another.

Lothar Walther makes a fine barrel, dealing with Woody, the guy in charge is the only problem.

I have a 28" in 260 that is very accurate and cleans easily. The only problem is that I don't shoot it enough.
