    Barrel nut compatability

I never ran across this info when I was researching my first build, so it might be useful for someone else. I am sure the old hands already knew . I bought a flat back rifle to convert from 30-06 to 25-06, researched switch barrel methods, waited impatiently for my new McGowen barrel, and bought the necessary tool for the job. The big day finally arrived, and I discovered that my old fully threaded barrel nut would not go up far enough on the new barrel for it to headspace properly. A quick peek at the picture from the Brownells catalog told me that a new barrel nut is only half threaded so it will sleeve up over the barrel. AARRGH! I wish I had known this weeks ago so I could already have one here! Hopefully this will give another newbie like me a heads up.
