    7mm saum

    i have 2 questions.

1.i want to build a 7mm saum on a long action. i know it will work on a short action but i want it on a long action.should it be built on a large shank action

2.if it does need to be on a large shank, are there any standard long actions other that the rum actions.

    thanks,marty

Build it on a small shank. I've built ton's of WSM's and a couple 338 Edge's on small shanks. You don't need large shank.

ok cool.i was told by a pre-fit barrel dealer that it had to be built on a large shank but i have seen the 338 edge on a small shank and thats why i was confused.

If you want to seat the bullets long and up out of the neck shoulder junction use a long action. I built mine on a RUM action and put the barrel on a target action sometimes.
