I know this is a standard cartridge now, but figured it my question might find more experience with wildcatters. I am in the process of building a 280 AI, and was wondering if any of you guys have any particular bullets or loads that are accurate to give me a starting point. Just looking to gather info while I am building. I have heard the Sierra matchking 168gr is a good bullet. thanks for the replies
The 162gr Amax loaded in 280AI Nosler brass pushed by 64gr Magpro and sparked by a WLR nets 3050fps out of my 26" PacNor 3 groove.
The 168 Berger VLD pushed by 60gr of RL22 nets 3000.
The 64gr Magpro load is developing a Quickload estimated 62-63Kpsi. Zero pressure signs but I'm calling this load max.
I think I still have a little room to work with the 60gr RL22 load.
Magpro rocks with fantastic velocity, great accuracy and easy metering!
The 162 Amax rocks with a .625 BC!

Next build is going to be a 280AI, was hoping that more people would chime in.
My go to load is 58.5 IMR4831 behind a 140 Barnes XXX. I also like 58.5 RL22 behind a 160 NOSLER AB. Both sparked by CCI 200
Add one more 280 Ackley enthusist to the list. I am in the process of building one.
280- any chrono #s on those loads?
58 grains of h-4831sc behind Hornady 139 gr SST ignited by CCI 200.
Barrel is 24 inch Pac-Nor and chrony says about 3200 fps.
