Your don't tighten the barrel, you tighten the nut. The nut is bigger than the barrel so there should be no issue with the wrench fitting over the barrel.
I just bought a barrel off another member and just realized the wrench wont fit over the barrel to tighten it. My question is do you get a spanner wrench or cut the end off the wrench and tighten it gently or use a universal spanner wrench. It is a small shank.

Unless this barrel is like 1.25 in dia. or bigger. You know one of those monsters that is relieved at the rear end to allow for the nut.

Agreed. A small shank barrel is in no way too large for the nut wrench.

I meant tighten the nut. I usually tape the barrel so as not to scratch the barrel and that is what stopped the wrench from going on.Everything is fine and yes it is one of those monster barrels with the relief for the barrel nut. It is 1.350 in diameter. All is well ,thanks for the replys.
