    Help! 110 7mm Mag to 223 conversion

The LGS has a used 110 7mmMag, detachable mag and non accu-trigger that looks brand new for a steal.

Other than the typical bolt face swap/barrel swap what needs done to the magazine for the swap?

Who makes a nice T-hole laminated 110 detachable mag stock?

What problems/issues will need to be addressed?

A long action DBM will not work for a .223.

It would if you installed a single shot follower. The other hard part is finding the long action 223 bolt head.

Can you do a LA in 243/308?

    Mag swap works as well?

243/308 would probably be a better swap but life would still be easier if you went with a single shot follower, if building a bench rifle that is.

308 based swaps are easy but you need a new magazine.

I would imagine you could get a 223 to work with a custom DBM for along action.

Why not just swap stocks and mags to an internal LA stock and internal 223 LA magazine if you can find one.

SSS would know more than me on that.

The bolt heads come bare so you have to order all the small parts.

Is it just me or is this whole project absurd.

You have the wrong action, you have the wrong bolt head and you have the wrong magazine. No matter how good a deal it is, it couldn't be less what you need if you tried and it is going to cost you twice as much to convert everything than if you just went out and bought .223 in the first place.

    It's just you. ;D

I run short action rounds in my long action and long action rounds in my short action.

Here's my best example. In front, Krieger 300wsm on a 116 action. In back, 338 Edge on a short/long action 110.

Well bolt heads aren't too hard to change and you could buy a CDI BM, depending on what you wanted to spend.

LA .223 boltheads can be hard to come by, or expensive for that matter.

Re: Help! 110 7mm Mag to 223 conversion

OK but can you do it cheaper another way??

Comparing prices- by going with a pawn shop 7mm and swapping barrels (most would swap or pay $$ to have barrel threaded anyways so for me a wash), upgraded stock (again most toss the plastic stock anyways so another wash on cost) and add a CDI 308 LA DBM kit. My only cost difference in doing this is the CDI which would again be bought either way. For less than a model 10 here locally, I have a 110, threaded 308 barrel, Choate stock and CDI bottom metal for ~1-150 more. if your plan can be accomplished with an off the shelf gun it may be cheaper, but if done right it's not hard to come out ahead.

Oh yeah and my bolt's probably going also and switching to a PTG.

That's true, but the do show up from time to time. I traded for a LH one a couple months ago.

I thought someone made an adapter to run the SA heads on the LA bolts as well?

SSS sells the parts. A want ad in the classifieds can pop one up too. I've even seen a PPC head show up now and again.

Why would you swap the bolt to a PTG?
