    Savage 110 30-06 to a 6.5x55

I am new to this site. I read the FAQ post to make sure the answer wasn't there. I read in a post here that the only change I need to make is a barrel swap. Would that be all I need or do I need to change the bolt as well. I have been using this rifle since 1992 and the bolt is getting loose. Thanks

barrel is it, if everything else is mechanically sound. the bolt head is meant to move some. what area are you wondering about?

Yup, barrel is all, got one here with a big ole fat Douglass SS straight bull, 8twist shoots a tiny little hole for a 5 shot group. I have built a ton of swedes over the past 25 years, pm me if you need help, load data! Killed a loooottt of critters with them too!

Thanks for the information. That is good news. A barrel it is, just which one. I'm thinking thicker than the factory sporter but not a bull; maybe a magnum contour? I've read mixed reviews on the site about McGowan. Any suggestions from those more experienced than I?

I have two Shilen and a Brux that Shoot great. Make sure your bolt head is large enough I had an action T&T and found the bolt head was to small. Just an odd ball the swede's base is a bit larger than 30\06. skoger I'm always open to some more load info.

American made brass is USUALLY .473". Swede brass at the base, when European made, runs .480" or there abouts.
