There are three steps:
1. Plug the front action hole and fill top side with epoxy or wood dowel. I cut the pictured laminate plug from the barrel channel, made a template of the hole, and shaped plug to size with a Dremel tool.
2. Drill a new hole at the right spacing. If you are going to add pillars and bed the action and recoil lug, do that before the next step.
3. Throw away the L-clip and find a better way to position and hold the spring loaded blind magazine box in place. I tape magazine box to action with a business card between for spacing. Next, I press 4 small balls of plumber epoxy putty into each corner of the well and then press magazine taped to action into the putty (Remember release agent on metal). Remove before putty hardens completely (5 min) and any excess putty is easy to clean up and remove with a blade. This forms the base to hold the magazine in the correct position/height for reliable feeding. I then discovered I could put two wood screws in the grooves on the side of the CF magazine box and screw into bottom wood to hold spring loaded box firmly in place. Works like a charm.
Thankfully, Boyd's just started making Savage CF stocks.
