The internal length of the magazines are 2.925". Ackley improved catridges feed with no problems. To match stainless steel hardware the bottom metal can be left uncoated, but the latch will still be black.
I have plenty of drop in units at this time, but I can't schedule inletting until mid July.
Sounds really cool, my vote would be the long action Choate Tactical stock inlet ...
When will they be available and will it be a drop in fit for the 10fcp with mcmillan a5?
I have them in stock, and they will fit the McMillan 10fcp.
will it fit my 7.62 x 25 ruger #1 ? LOL
The long action magazines are about 2 weeks away from being in my hands. It will take some time to engineer the the magazine frames, so realisticly because of my schedule, it won't happen until sometime in august. Meanwhile, anybody interested in long action conversions, I will take orders.
The .223 version is still in R&D.
How about a 5 round detach. mag for a 220 20ga slug gun Fred.?... ;D ;)
The magazines look like AICS magazines or their clones. I know of a brand called Accurate, C-Products just came out with them, and there's a third domestic clone brand whose name escapes me. The C-Prod magazine is still new but the other two brands have a great reputation.
If so that's a great deal for a drop in conversion. I have a Rem clone in a Manners stock with the bottom metal that takes AICS mags and have been wanting to share mags with my Savage centerfeed. Before this you were looking at $210 plus inletting for bottom metal from CDI Precison.
Will the 223 version use the same bottom metal?
Will it also use proprietary mags or will it use the AICS 223 mags?
If the mags are proprietary will they be higher capacity - say 15-20 rounds?
Ready to get one on order for my 10PC
Fred,
Any updates on the 223 Version? I am chomping at the bit to get one ordered.
The only part holding things up are the springs and followers, and I expect to have some magazines in a month.
Bad news on the long action version....looks like it ain't gonna happen. The magazines are too long for the frame and would take too much modification to facilitate making them work.
that is terrible news! I wanted a high capacity .25-06AI :(Quote:

Guess I am stuck buying a DBM from CDI.
Can we "Pre-Order" the 223 Version? I have the DBM Stock already, so I just need all the parts and I am set.Quote:

Hi Savage guru's
when this unit comes out in .223 , would it drop into the H-S PSV 102 stock and fit a Savage model 12 with what appears to be 4.27 centres on the stock screws. NZ is a long way to order the wrong parts :-\
Bump
tag for the .223 for later ;D
How long is the turn around on having them inlet a stock for the bottom metal now a days??
Do we have a mag capacity for the 223 version yet?
Still looking for an update ;D
Hey Fred,
Any word on how the magazines are holding up? Feeding and everything working as desired on production models in the field?
I'm looking really hard at a 12 LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor, and had been thinking about fitting it with a CDI mag kit for AI mags (dang things are bullet proof) but I thought if these Acme ones are holding up, I might give 'em a try...
Take care,
Monte
So far I hav'nt had any complaints about reliability or function. I have found that the follower springs are plenty strong enough and when I discussed this with Kevin Wyatt he stated that they were that way as to resist taking a set.
If I failed to mention this before, these are the same magazines that Les Baer uses on his new "Recon rifle".
I have noticed that the parkerized version of the magazines are a little fuzzy on the finish and a quick scrub with WD-40 and 0000 steel wool will slick them up quite well. I used a 5 rounder on a recent coyote hunt and emptied it twice on multple coyotes, with my biggest complaint of chasing Lapua brass in a snow storm.
The .223 version is scheduled to be available after the SHOT show. They will be 3/4" longer than the 5 rd .308 mag, but will hold 10 rounds.
What is the current wait time for a inlet and installation?
That does raise another question... how much actual inletting is required? For say something like one of the new 12 LRP (essentially the LRPV/DBM in an HS Precision stock)? Or is it essentially drop-in?
