Which barrel channel did you order? How does it fit?

This stock has really got my attention. I have four Boyds stocks (three thumbhole's and one tacticool rimfire) on rifles currently. I was going to put a B&C Medalist stock on my 10FP, but this seems just as nice for 1/2 the price. Once I bed the stock, I would expect it to shoot just as well.
The only thing I did to it was to open up the trigger inletting a little. Otherwise the action just dropped right in. The magazine is a little tight and at first I had it set too deep, but I pulled it up and now it's fine. I have not touched the fore end. I may end up having to clear out some material under the tang, though. It's not free floating. I ordered the heavy barrel channel as the Hog Hunter has a "medium" profile that's closer to heavy barrel than it is to the thinner factory profile.

does that stock have a flat or round forend?
It's rounded. Here's some more shots so you have a better idea how it's shaped.

Looks like it'll take a Harris bipod nicely. Thanks for the pics.
...that's definitely a different forearm than the rimfire Tacticool...
i think its a awsome stock
ill be ordering one soon lol
Well, I ordered one. Don't know which gun it's going on but I ordered one..
Has anyone gotten a Tacticool center fire stock for a long action savage? I'm interested in one but Boyd’s only list factory barrel channel for the long action on there web site. I'm worried there won't be enough wood left after opening it up for a varmint barrel. If anyone has used a long action with a varmint contour barrel I would appreciate any info on how it fit after opening the channel up. Thanks!
No way. I love those guys.
Same for me. I hate it for them. I hope all is well.

If you have a router or a mill, you can use core box bits to do barrel inlets with. They are basically half round bits.
Magnate 812, and Magnate 814 are the ones I use. If you use a router, you have to make a guide so it follows centerline of your stock.

I got two stocks from Boyds for my mod 12 BVSS 308 4.4 centerfeed
1. The Varminter
2. the Tacticool
Drop in fit on both was superb
I sold the Varminter stock as the reach to the trigger was uncomfortably too far a reach, sadly, as it was a beautiful stock.
I had the tacticool bedded and she shoots like a dream.
It is laminated wood, and the recoil pad is fitted with two screws !
if you dont have a router & a jig
you can open up a stock in about 30 min with a deep impact socket wrapped in 50grit-
I use a 9/16 with the 50 grit
then switch to a 5/8 with 220
this opens it up enough to free float a varmit countour
or about 1' at tip of channel
i had to open mine up for a varmint barrel i used a 3/4 pvc pipe wraped with sticky sandpaper worked great
What color laminate is under the black paint?
