Another look.
Have you tried decocking the cocking piece pin? It looks like the cocking indicator projecting into the key hole?

Sorry to not be clear. Most Savage bolts have a BAS with an allen head as shown in the picture above.
This Axis has a BAS with an odd keyed BAS.
Who has seen this?
What tool are you using to remove it?
The Axis BAS uses a 1/4" allen wrench just like all the other models. You must de-cock it to get the wrench in. The firing pin sticking out is just a cocking indicator, and your particular firing pin seems to be a screw up from the factory, as they have a slot for the tail of the spring, but it does not extend that far. Once you get it out, you'll see what I mean.
