99F rotor timing: How did I do?

I could only fit 3-4 rounds in my new to me 308...so I took a few minutes to reduce the rotor tension. The numbers were also not centering in the counter window.

After adjustment, the # 0 and #2 still seems a bit too high in the counter window but it feeds and functions now. The rest of the numbers are well centered. I am about to call it good enough for Government work.

Never saw the need for the “count window”.

Can’t think of any other 5-rnd. magazine rifle that has one, and I don’t miss it.

(my two M99’s have “miss-alighned” numbers in the window . . . .SO WHAT!!)

The counter (especially when brass) adds to the 19th century cool factor of the 99.

So true. And it polishes up so nicely. The warning I hear more often is not to disassemble the rotor, but that’s straightforward enough, too. You just need to have something to grip the end, like a drill chuck, and know that it’s a left handed thread. The two I’ve disassembled have benefited from a thorough cleaning and lube.

My '21 99G breakdown suffers from badly registered numbers, and dull too, I guess I'll have to look into taking it apart and clean it up. Shoots OK though. Not sure it's ever been apart that I know of.
