I’ve been a “gun nut” for about the last 65 years. (Notice the difference, please, between a “gun nut” and a “nut with a gun”.)
Have had many a Savage firearm over the years, so am familiar with most.

Concur re: differentiation of "nut." I am a "hobbyist" or "enthusiast" because "nut" has lost its innocuous meaning. I don't have enough yet to be a true "collector." But, begs the question: is a person who loves pecans and pistachios a "nut nut?"
