I purchased 2 Savage MK II bolt action .22 rifles with the accutriggers, fluted barrels and in sequential serial #'s and have been researching to find out what year they were made. Everything I see has a letter in front of the serial #'s. The barrels do say Savage MK II and start with 1396XXX. Can anybody help me out?? Thank you
Don't know of anyone other than Savage that could help you there as I don't know of anyone keeping up with rimfire production info on the newer guns. When they're building 250,000 to 300,000 a year (or more), they're not exactly rare or worthy of collector interest.
The reason the rimfire S/N's don't have a letter prefix is because they're all made in Canada, not at the Westfield plant. Why they don't use them up there I have no clue, but they never have.
