Rifle Stock Art: A new art form?
Inspiration may come from a multitude of sources. The "raison d'etre" for this particular piece came to me as a result of observing a prairie deer mouse consuming D-Con. The title is "Peromyscian Saga" but that was only to conform to current conventions of nomenclature. Seems you have to title a piece something. Duh? I was always of the opinion that "abstract" was the very antithesis of convention. Ah well. The work is abstract while not abstract in totality. It is meant to convey a story. The journey of a diminutive and sometimes very secretive creature through her life. If carefully and thoughtfully observed one can see her tiny foot prints and those of her young as they scurry willy-nilly through life in search of sustenance and perhaps even life-way companions.
