New gun and new to forum

Just purchased a 10 FCP with a choate stock in 308. Just looking for some feedback and suggestions.

Looking at putting a SWFA 10x42 on top of it.

Wanting to use this as a deer gun and target gun.

I have never loaded my own ammo, but will be eventually getting into this craft. Until I do, can you recommend some good hunting and target loads. Hunting will probably be out to 300 yards, targets out to 500, but would like to eventually go further.

And I know that every gun will require it own tweaks, but a starting point on a drop chart would be very helpful.

There is tons of information on tweeking the various parts of a Savage rifle, there is a section on optics, and a section on reloading. Hours of informative reading. Enjoy.
