Magnum Bolt Head Altering
I am wanting to take (what I believe is a long action .532" magnum bolt head) and trim enough off in order to use it in a short action bolt. Who has done this, (or had it done) and could you provide pictures on the "tail end".
From what I understand you need to trim off .185" off of the "tail end" in order to use it in a short action bolt.
I don't want to go with the a whole other firing pin, newer magnum bolt head, and the relieved front baffle.
Who can help?

Why not just buy a new WSM bolthead?

left .473 / center - .532 / right - shortened .532
Make it match the head your trading out and your pin length can stay the same. :)

factory WSM receivers use controlled round feed and ejection. you could, but you would have no ejector.
