I have been working on this project for a few weeks off and on as time allows. I had a Accustock from a Savage 116 that worked nicely. I had an old style 1970s Savage 110 action I converted to a modern (non recessed) bolt. Unfortunately I had to buy a whole new bolt as the head pin was 90 degrees opposite. I sourced a trigger for this old action, probably the last one in the US and paid big bucks for it. Had to do some modifications and then get it tuned so the safety worked, it was a PITA but it breaks clean at 2.5lbs and everything works as it should. Next I had to open the action up for the long 6.5 300 round, did this on the milling machine and recut the feed ramp. I realized at 3.600 there was NO WAY the internal magazine was going to work. I bought bottom metal and a special long .300 win mag magazine for wildcat loads that gave me 3.800. It is a Wilson heavy barrel in 1:8 twist, I cut the chamber and head spaced a bit on the tight side. Anyways here is the finished rifle ready for the scope and range. It feeds beautifully from the magazine!
I was really torn on whether I should put a muzzle break on it, I guess I will shoot it and see how wild it is. I prefer no brake shooting out the deer stand.
