I'll soon be a new owner of a Model 12 F class in 6mm BR and I have a couple of newbie questions.
1) Are the scope mount screws #6 or #8 in the newer actions.
2) Is the barrel a large shank or a small shank?
Thanks,
Jim

The last-several Savage 10s and 12s I've had use #8 screws.
I believe all 12 target rifles are large shank. Can you measure the length of the barrel nut? LS is 5/8"; SS is 7/8".
All target actions are large shank.
All the Model 12 Target Actions are Large Shank. If you are referring to the Model 12FV, yes it is a Small Shank. However, the Model 12FV uses a standard 110, Open Port Action. It is not the Closed port style Target Action as is being discussed here.
But technically you are correct Jim. ;)
F-class in 6mmBR=target action=large shank= you need to buy it because you will really enjoy shooting that cartridge!
Thanks for the info guys! I guess I'll wait until the rifle arrives and see what scope mount screws it takes.
I received my Model 12 today. It has a "P" starting the serial number. FYI, the scope mount screws are #6 on my new action.
