Just a tread for people to show off some of their groups!
Il be the first i guesshttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/22/uqydaryp.jpg 4 shots at 25 yards in the same .17 hole, not to shabby right?
Initial load work for my Target Action Specialty Pistol. Second pic is same load (roughly) 6 years later.

Your load has aged gracefully, my friend. What round are you shooting?

3 shots at 100 with my creedmoor
This is one of my favorites, 5 shots at 100 yards, 110 .308.

Same rifle and load, 41.5 grain of IMR 4064 with the 168 SMK.

When the weather is real hot I have to take it down to 41.3 to keep it shooting like that.
Nice groups, what that at 100 yards?
Yes 100 yards but I've put a lot of care and work into the rifle, it has a Shilen Select Match bull barrel, These Savage's will keep up with the best customs, when you have the right setup and load worked up. I've also spent alot of time behind the trigger since I started reloading for accuracy and joined here in 2010. They can shoot 1/4 minute but you've got to watch the wind carefully.
It was a 110 .243 sporter that could shoot around 1MOA 3 shot groups with the factory loads it liked. By reloading for the same .243 I could get 1/2MOA.
On the other hand when my 10FP was factory new untouched it could get a little under 1/2 MOA with 168 FGMM 3 shot, but the factory barrels don't seem to hold good accuracy when long strings of fire are needed at competitions.

This is my 223 5 shots at 100. It's all stock but I did do some work to it. Shooting 52 gr sierra mk over 26 gr of varget.
No, lol. It's a model 12 fv. It shot around an inch when I got it, figured I could get more out of it. Didnt think it would be this much. It shoots the same every time if I don't screw it up.
You said you done some work to it, you talkig about the gun or load?
The gun. I done a trigger job, lapped the lugs, lapped the recoil lug with the face of the receiver, and the barrel nut to the recoil lug, set the barrel back to a minimum hs, recrowned it and bedded it.
I bet its pretty smooth, ever thought about getting a match grade barrel? Wonder if the lapped stock barrel would be better
I put a shaw on my creedmoor. It's gonna shoot just about as good. But I did more to the action on it.
Can't say that I have
Swiss rifle from 1931-53 i think. I guess theirs the "match rifles of the war" known for their accuracy. Anyway, if you like the vintage war rifles pick one up and order some Gp11, its reletivly cheap and with irons theyre capable of sub moa with surplus gp11. There's a guy i kind of know that gets 1/3 moa with a scope out of his. Also there is a guy on youtube who does 1 mile shots with his with irons. Look it up? Very well made. And under the buttplate there should be a peice of paper with the name and info on who it was issues to
That's cool stuff. I'm planning on building some rifles when my ffl's get finished up. I might have to check em out.
Its a pretty cool gun, only about 500,000 made though
This is from my .223 F/TR rifle at 100 meters. .180" 5 shots varget & Berger 80gr VLD

From a couple years ago when I was playing with the 223wssm before I got bored with it and moved on to the next caliber on my list. Lower left side - 42.6gr of RL-19 and a 69gr Nosler CC was the magic combo for that barrel. This was at 100yds. That particular load was flat to 300 as I recall:

From my beloved '06.

And, from my 25.06:

And these were before getting both eyes rebuilt from cataracts. Now the range officer doesn't have to tell me I'm facing the wrong way when I shoot. I can actually see the target line.
Very good shooting guys!
This is the same .223 F/TR rifle at 500 meters...

Heres a couple of my best groups, Savage 112 22-250 50gr vmax over IMR 4064. Its been my go to load for years.
First group is from 2001, at 100yds, the other is from a couple weeks ago at 300. Same rifle, same load

Scooter
Nice 300 yard group
Ya know, looking at all these targets and the nice tight grouping produced makes me wonder why some guys call Savage rifles junk. One of the best features is having the ability to swap barrels at will and replace / repair any parts when needed without having to take out a mortgage for gunsmith services.
I'm with ya on that one Frank!
2nd that! Except thee rimfires are hard to replace alot
Can I show my attempt using a Savage MK11 BSEV at Rochester UK? A tack driver if ever there was
Jack

Using sub sonic loads?
No, standard velocity
Isn't most standard velocity sub sonic?

Jack
Very nice Jack! I thank everyone who has posted their groups so far,, very good shooting and excellent Savage rifles we have.
Looks like you've about got it dialed in, Jack.
Dontcha just love it when a plan comes together for ya?
Happens to all of us at some point. No sense trying to fight it.
Just go with the flow.
I have a light weight .243 I made for the wife to shoot and for hoglets. I haven't even got any load work ups yet and I'm thinking of pulling the barrel and going with another .270.
Strong is the barrel swap OCD within us, I say....
My new savage m25 .17 hornet. Factory ammo @100 yards.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/13/je7uge9u.jpg
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/13/2eta7uzu.jpg. And here again at 300 yds 3 shots closest to the tacks.
This is my best target at 500 meters (547yds) with my .223 147/150 7X
http://i1025.photobucket.com/albums/...ps080346b3.jpg
Shot this today after load development on my new .308, same distance. It's actually two separate groups, the second being a tad higher than the first.
