Barrel Length/Bullet Velocity

Anyone comment on shorter barrels in .20vt or other .20 cals? Thinking of taking off 2"-4" of mine to make it lighter and more handy to carry in the field. It is a very accurate barrel during breakin.

Load data is showing 3520 fps with 40 grain bullets & 3855 fps with 32 grain. I can't see where it will matter much in performance if it lost 160-200 fps. Load data list 24" barrel.

I'd say you've pretty much made up your mind! LOL. Go for it. The shorter stiffer tube may shrink groups some.

Ordered another barrel from Devin today in 20", a .223 caliber. Thinking of selling the vartarg.

What twist is best all around for .223 to shoot heavy bullets as well as lighter ones, 7 or 8 twist?

8 twist up to 80ish grain bullets
