Any suggestions on which primer and paint to use? Unfortunately going to be stuck using spray cans.

The last one I painted (it was a grey Stevens stock) I used Rustoleum spray paint (can stuff) and it's still holding up like iron.
Good to know, that's kind of the direction I'm headed at the moment.
Just be sure to degrease it well before spraying. Spray carb/injector cleaner is cheap and works well plus evaporates quickly.
Carb cleaner doesn't leave a residue? I was going to use brake cleaner, would one be better than other? Any primer better than another?
I too prefer Rustoleum primer and paint.
Laquer thinner is the best to degreese before painting. Spray brake cleaner is good, but the thinner is the best. Rustoleum is pretty tough, I would use it.Quote:

So a good cleaning with lacquer thinner, Rustoleum primer and paint- sounds like a plan. Stock won't be here for a while so I have time to get materials together. Thanks for the replies.
So just use alcohol to de-grease and paint or do we still need to prime first?
Got a hold of Kevin Rayhill at Stockade. He recomended a glaze to finish any pin holes etc, and then any enamel or epoxy paint of your choice. He also said that they do not need to be primed.
I had one of these stocks and took it to a friends body shop. Asked him to shoot it with a base, clear paint the first time he would have a little extra paint left over. $70 later my stock was painted and clear coated with automotive paint and everyone was happy.
