I have a model 40 in .22 Hornet which I purchased new, when I got it the gun worked fine but after a few years it would not eject the spent casing after I fired it, I took it to my gunsmith and he repaired it, he said it was not assembled correctly and it works better now but occasionally it will not eject the spent case. I am firing 35 gr. V max pushed by 12.8 grains of Lil Gun with Win cases and fed 205 primers.
Eject or Extract?
The gun will not extract the fired case, I have to use a cleaning rod to get it out.Quote:

Yes I called Savage they sent me a new spring clip which did not help. They also asked if I was shooting factory or hand loads?Quote:

argoboy, early models came with one spring clip, later came with two. Check chamber were extractor comes in contact with the cone shape, that area can develope a burr on inside edge. Two spring clips can be installed, but takes some fitting. Also extractor may need stoned, so that it gets a better grip on rim.
Short round, all great thoughts. I was unaware of the twin clips.
