Stevens Favorite
Hoping to find out some info on this little beauty. I picked this rifle up 20 years ago for a song, and I sure can not sing.
Cal. .32 long rim fire
ser.# F 91X

Re: Stevens Favorite
Wow, still in really nice shape, was the wood ever redone?
What kind of info were you looking for?

Re: Stevens Favorite
As far as I know the wood is original. Just looking for date of birth and value. The rifle was purchased from a fellow worker who's dad had passed. The fellow worker was not a gun person and did not want any firearms in his house. I also bought a 1899 30-30 in good shape ser.# 2633XX. Any info on this rifle would also be appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: Stevens Favorite
Looks like the wood has been sanded and refinished (note how the metal is proud of the wood at the tang area) but still a nice piece.

Re: Stevens Favorite
Yep, thats what I was seeing to.
What model is the 1899 in 30-30?
Can't help out on the age of the Stevens.

Re: Stevens Favorite
Mad Dog,
I really don't know what model 1899 it is, nor do I know how to tell. Here are some pictures if it will help:
As you can see the wood has been coated with shellac, and not a very good job. I am sure the rifle was used to put meat on the table.

Re: Stevens Favorite
Thats a little 99H carbine, 30-30 is a common caliber for them.
Ya, whoever did the Stevens obviously sanded the crap outta that one and re-did it probably around the same time. Nice little shooter though. Your right, it'll still put meat on the table. :)
