.223 to 22-250?
Hello I'm new to the forum and I have a tech question. I have a 12BVSF SS fluted .223 w/26" bbl. 1 in 9"
Can it be rechambered in 22-250 and a change of the bolt head to 22-250 dimensions ?
I was thinking a 22-250 w/26" bbl. 1 in 9" would be great for shooting 75-80 gr. bullets
and could be a good long range varmint gun. Could it work or am I in left field ?
Thanks

Re: .223 to 22-250?
I'd be interested to see.
I have a buddy that's doing a 1:7 223 to 22-250 to shoot 90's for high power.

Re: .223 to 22-250?
You'll need a bolt head (.473") and magazine change, very doable. If you decide to go single shot, all you need is the Sharp Shooter Supply single shot follower in place over the old 223 mag, .473" BH and your good to go.

Sinman will rechamber your 223 barrel to 22-250 for about $75.
Look at the ballistics for the 75 A-Max @ 3200fps; that thing is a LASER and you might be able to get close to 3400fps depending on barrel length.
You also may only get 1000-1500rds from the barrel before it has to be set back due to throat erosion, depending on how hot your loads are.

Re: .223 to 22-250?
You may as well just have Sinman open that up to a 22-250 A.I... I had him do several for me and life is good. The 75 gr a max is a laser when pushed fast....Bill

ive considered a 22-250ai to get those screaming laser speeds but if i do ill prob nitride it to get more life out of the throat and bore.
