No magazine
Hell folks. I am new to the 6 this is my first post. I was given an axis chambered in 30-06. Of course it was missing the magazine. What are my options. I've had the rifle for 2 days, and the web search was bleak.

Unfortunately they just don’t exist right now! Nobody has them. I mean Nobody! My advice is to place a back order with Optics planet below. Unknown ETA, but the good thing about is Optics Planet is a great company. The minute they have them In Stock, you will get a notice & it will be shipped. During the crazy ammo shortage my brother ordered 500rds of 223 from them, Backorder. It took a little while, but then it was shipped & he had it. Also, their price is fair. Other places charging $60, $70, $80 for a factory mag!? And still they aren’t in stock. But, this is what I would do.

Welcome to the Brotherhood. When You finally get a Magazine, You will likely have to address why You don’t currently have one. They are known to fall out on a whim. Hunting trails must be littered with them. (Maybe a slight exaggeration). Just another issue with Savages that must be considered or dealt with.

Can always do a Chassis or Bottom Metal & go AICS. I’ll never use factory magazines again on any rifle I get the rest of my life.

I have seen this option. What have you used and or recommend?

The rifle was a family members. I was given it with out a magazine and nobody knows were the original is, so I figured it's a savage. I'll just go online and get one

Easiest is a Chassis. Remove the current stock from the Barreled Action, drop the whole thing in a Chassis like the MDT LSS, or Oryx for Long Action, grab a 5rd, 30-06 AICS mag… either an Accurate steel mag, or a Magpul polymer mag & be done!
Other option is using a Long Action Bottom Metal. Accurate makes probably the nicest one, but there are a couple. This is the more economical option, but will require some fitting to install on the stock.

Over the last few months i have picked up savage axis (and model 11) mags at the local gun shops, scheels and L&M Fleet supply. They are out there, you just have to look.

Look at the post right above yours? Good idea to read all posts in a thread before responding. Just the way I do things anyway. :tea:

So does savage not even have these? I can't believe you can't just call and they can't grab one off the line for you...

Yeah, you would think so wouldn't you? If they actually had a customer service dept, anyway...
