Looks like a Savage Model 110C. Dont know the year.

I've seen that and most had a detachable box mag too this particular one doesn't. The barrel is stamped 110 H

In savage nomenclature.
H was for Hinged floor plate.
C was for Clip(detachable box magazine)

There never was a "110H". That's Savage confusion speak for "Model 110 Series H". Same as there was never a Model 110J, but we see plenty of factory barrels stamped that way. The Series letter just referred to small parts changes over the years and was used by the factory to make sure they used the right version of those changed parts if it ever came back for warranty work. And before you ask, no - nobody has a clue what series letters indicate what parts were changed or what years they're associated with or anything else. Info on the Series letters is a big black hole.Quote:

As for the barrel and caliber, clearly it's a factory barrel and the stamping appears to be properly oriented so I would have no reason to believe it wasn't original to the rifle. The .22-250 cartridge was standardized by Remington in 1965 and Savage started offering it in their rifles in 1966. Your barrel doesn't have the "barrel bump" for the rear sight like those made from 1958-1965 so it's clearly a 1966 or newer and therefore could be a factory 22-250 from the latter half of the 1960's.
What's the serial number start with? (i.e. 12345XX)

That's going to be late 1967 or early/mid 1968. Closest dated serial number I have is 1050XX which dates to 1967. Oct. 22, 1968 is when the Gun Control Act went into effect requiring all firearms imported or manufactured be issued a serial number, and that's when Savage started using the letter prefix on their serial numbers to clearly differentiate those firearms made before and after the GCA went into effect.

You're trying to apply modern day abbreviations to vintage models. In the 1960's they basically had these codes, though they weren't carved in stone either.
L = left-hand
MC = Monte Carlo
MCL = Monty Carlo left-hand
M = Magnum
ML = Magnum left-hand
E = Economy
EL = Economy left-hand
E/S & EL/S = Same as above with scope
P = Premier (Sile of Italy stock)
PL = Premier left-hand (Sile of Italy stock)
P/S & PL/S = Same as above with scoped
PE = Premier Engraved
PEL = Premier Engraved left-hand
C = Detachable magazine
CL = Detachable magazine left-hand
C/S & CL/S = Same as above with scope
D = Deluxe
DL = Deluxe left-hand
I learned long ago that Numrich's knows about as much about older 110's as the current folks at Savage Arms do, which isn't much.
I'm not challenging your knowledge Jim nor was I picking a fight. I don't believe that I discredited you in any way and I'm sorry you took it that way. I just thought it was interesting that those items showed up the way they did on gunparts. Looking at your link I noticed the Model 950 C does not show up in list of models either. I felt like it being CIL there was always the opportunity for a deviation from the Savage norm. Regardless, my apologies for being part of the dialog.

I had one like this in a lefty 06 that i bought in the late 50s.
It had the skip a line checkering with the rosewood trim, and the barrel bulge with a folding site.
It was a feed from the top action, as i recall it was also available in several other cartridges including 7 Rem mag
From across a room it looked like a Mark V Weatherby.
A couple years later i also bought a lefty barreled action from Savage in 300 WM for as i recall about $85.
