Originally purchased with Weaver Kaspa 3-9x40 scope. The rings will suffice for the Crossfire but the mounting base plates are at too great a distance from eachother. The front ring sits about 1/4" up on the just widening objective lens housing. Is there any solution without having to go for a 6.5" or so Picantinny rail? Seems lke this might be a common problem.
When I switched the Weaver scope for a Nikon I had to change the mounting plates and ringd to Leupold Dual dovetail mounts. That seemed to work out pretty good for me.

You have to buy the weaver rail for it to mount that scope comfortable. I have the same setup as you and swapped out the rings for burris zee rings because they aren't so wide and a weaver rail.
Thanks. Yes, changing the mounting plates is the way to go. As you can see, my experience is limited. I see on Cabelas that they also have a WeaverŽ SavageŽ Axis Multislot One-Piece Base that should do the trick.
Change scopes or get a 1-piece base.
