Heck, there are gun cases designed to look like tennis racket cases, date books, etc. As one commentator on Fox News noted, they could have been hidden in a golf bag, or brought in in pieces over time since he had been in the room since Sept. 28th. Latest I've heard is that several of the weapons were AR-15's that had been converted to full auto, so those could have easily been broken down into components and brought up in small bags and reassembled in the room.
One performer that they were interviewing who also lives in LV noted that those rooms at the Mandalay Bay would have had to of been booked several weeks if not months in advance which lends more credence to it being a premeditated act.
It's going to be hard to know anything about motive until they get done with the forensics on his electronics, and even then we might not get any answers.
