Does anyone else have this rifle?
I have the Savage 10 FCP-SR in 308, not the Creed. Out of the box it's a great rifle.
Great to hear! It will be a while before I get to shoot it. Saving for a decent scope to put on top.
I have the 6.5 in Black. Only complaint is the 10 round mag has to be inserted perfectly. The axis style mags fit for hunting and function flawlessly. Great shooter right out of the box. I through a dnz gamereaper mount and a Vortex viper 4-12x44 on it and slung rounds out to 500 yards on the farm in KY with little effort other then building a little dope and reading the wind 800yards was a little much for me and the scope, but I'm getting better. The accustock is plenty stiff enough for me to shoot off pods and bags. the oversized bolt handle is awesome. The action feels a little rough, but not unbearable. 3/4" MOA was no prob with reloads. Occassionally the stars align and I manage to shoot some pretty nice rag holes.
Mine didn't come with the tac bolt handle. I'll be calling savage to see what they'll do for me. I too have been looking at the Vortex line just not sure what I want yet. My goal is to hit the 1k yard mark. I think I'll be changing to one of the MDT chassis as well.
My cousin has the 6-24x50 viper and it is nice I haven't shot it past 800yards, but it had plenty more to give.
I called Savage to confirm the parts on my rifle are correct. The FDE models don't come with a fluted barrel or the tactical bolt handle like the black models I've seen.
I have one in 6.5 Creedmoor that shot sub MOA out to 500 with factory 140 & 147 gr ELD match. Waiting on 140&147 bullets to work up hand loads. Can't wait to see what kind of performance I get then.

Only downside is the magazine issue already mentioned. Since I'm using it as a bench gun no big deal as I can load one at a time.
I bought it with the intention of dropping the barreled action in a MDT chassis but I'm waiting to see how accurate it gets with hand loads and if I decide to keep it in the accustock I'll swap out the bottom metal

This is the FDE my brother just ordered. He should get it by the end of the week and I will see if it has the tact bolt handle as advertised.

This is the one I bought:

Not sure why I'm the only one who didn't get the tac bolt but I'm not happy about the price difference either.
Called savage again and was told the large round handle is what's suppose to come on the 22338 rife. Oh well my first savage purchase has not been so great so far.
So I emailed EGW asking info about the rail and this is what they sent.
Hello
that is a 0 moa Savage Short action rail.
Made from 6061 aluninum t6 and andoized.
all US.
if you go to 20 moa.
I recomend the HD rail, machined from 7075 full cross slots, sturdier, hard coat anodized.
come with torx screws.
I have it in .308 with the Primary Arms 4-14x44 FFP. At $239-279 for a first focal plane optic and a good one at that, it makes the combination hard to beat from both a price and performance standpoint.
I tried Savage twice and grabagun a second time today. We'll see how they respond but I'm not to optimistic about grabagun
The other difference is the FDE version does not have the fluted barrel if I am correct. Some consider that a plus according to what you want.
Edit: Grabagun has it listed in the description " tactical bolt handle". You might bring this to their attention.

Mine came with the fat round bolt handle as well,i wanted the longer version.
He will be shooting it out to 1000 yards tomorrow. It is a nice looking setup. Have you shot your rifle?

My SWFA 10x showed up Thursday, got it mounted last night, and made it out to the range today. This is my first time shooting anything with a scope other than my trusty ol 10/22 with a tasco.
Got it somewhat zeroed at 100, will spend more time with this on next trip out. Our range has target placements on berms at 100, 200, and 300. Some steel plates at 350 is where it ends for us.
My groups at 100 were .5 to .75 inches.
I put 300yds into the strelok app I downloaded yesterday, but didn't put the wind values in (was blowing left to right 10-15). Put 11 clicks up like it said, and this was my first two shots at 300. The next shots I just tried to hold over but didn't work out as well as I had planned.

I then took a few shots at the steel at 350 and hit every time.

I've never shot anything out past 100 yards before today, so I was impressed. I think I'm really going to enjoy this rifle.:becky:

Thanks! Yes, 22338. I feel like I am going to be looking for a place to shoot longer distance in the near future.
Very nice dp2826!
My biggest issue with the bolt knob situation is how do some of them have them and some of them don't? It's a $40 part from Savage! They tried to say maybe it was specific to certain retailers but it's not!
I've been reeeealy looking at the PST Gen 2 5x 25!
I'm going to call Savage again on Monday and see if maybe another representative can help me or something. USA where did you get yours from if you don't Ming me asking?
I'm really enjoying my FCP-SR and I think Savage makes some of the most accurate rifles, especially considering the price but I also think they have the most confusing and convoluted model designations in the business. When you throw in all of the special retailer models that come and go with small to medium feature changes it just seems to me to be a big mess that I feel costs them sales.
While doing my research before buying the FCP, I almost went to another brand a couple of times only because I could actually figure out what I was buying. Had it not been for Savage's reputation for accuracy that kept bringing me back I surely would've owned a Mossberg or Ruger or Remington right now.
Agree, I've used Remington for years and have been hearing for a while about Savage's accuracy. So I figured I'd give them a try. I really never buy thing I can't look at first hand, especially firearms, but figured I'll give this while internet purchase thing a try. Well it happened to bite me in the rear. Not sure I'll ever purchase a firearm online again! I tend to learn from my first mistakes!
I've purchased a number of firearms online but I spend a lot more time researching my purchase before buying than I would otherwise. I also make it a point to call a product specialist if I have any question whatsoever about exactly what I'm getting. Once I even went so far as to ask him to get the firearm in his hands and call me back so I could ask him some questions. This was on a military surplus rifle but I would do the same thing for a new gun if I had any misgivings whatsoever.
That being said, I don't have a LGS nearby that has any kind of reasonable prices so I really don't have much choice but to buy online. It would probably be different if I did.
I know this does not help but here is another source http://gladesarmory.com/14/savage-10-110
I have that same rifle. Mine has the standard type of bolt handle, which I actually prefer. The only real issue that I've had is that mine would not eject spent rounds. I swapped my ejector out with a new one and it still wouldn't eject the spent rounds. I ordered an extractor/ejector kit from Sharp Shooter Supply and so far it seems to have cured my problem. Luckily it was just $24 shipped, but I sure wish Savage would fix the extractor/ejector issues. I agree with others on here about the magazine insertion has to be just right or it wont go. Overall,...I'm very pleased with the accuracy though and the price was great after the $75 rebate, but Savage did give me the run around for a while about the rebate but they seem to finally have my rebate processed after me having to call them after they sent a rebate denial letter.
You guys that have the 22338 fde model generally happy with your purchase?
I just ordered one yesterday and then ran into the the thread "beware fcp-sr has changed", and now I am questioning if I should cancel or not.
From what I've seen around the internet almost all live the model. For the money you get a lot of features. I can not validate as to the accuracy of the rifle but it looks like a real shooter from what I've seen. I'm sure you'll be happy with the purchase. Just keep in mind you may or may not receive the tactical bolt handle! Lol
Happy with my purchase. The thing is far more accurate than I am.
I haven't had any problems with mine. It extracts/ejects fine. The mag does need to be seated with a firm push, if you just slap it in quickly it may not seat correctly.
Does come with a 0 moa mount, which to me right now doesn't bother me.
I really like mine and can't wait to get it back to the range, maybe this weekend if the weather cooperates.
Double post
I echo the sentiments of dp2826. I love mine in .308 with the 20" barrel. Sub MOA right out of the box. Absolutely no mag issues once you learn how to seat it. In fact it's easier to seat than the M1A mag. Just insert the rear first, rock it forward and seat with a firm push until it clicks in. Combined with the PA 4-14x44 FFP scope I have less than $800 in it. Certainly the best bang for the buck of any of my setups.
right on, that's reassuring.
Seems that people were generally pissed that it was changed from the digi camo model and that maybe had some issues at the beggining. Hopefully all sorted out now.
You guys all running the factory stock? Sounds like that was one of the bigger complaints, but maybe the accustock has taken care of that
I bought mine with every intention of dropping the barreled action in a chassis. I'll still might but only after my ability catches up to the capability of the rifle as is. The accustock is every bit as good as a B&C I have on a Howa .308.

Accustock is very good and the Accutrigger is great.
