mod 111 firing pin replacement
Hi Gents. just found this site I don't know how I've missed it this long? anyway I have been looking for info on firing pin replacemnt on a25/06 mod111 I had amisfire awhile back. The pin left just a slight mark on the primer.Thought I might need to replace pin & spring.
Re: mod 111 firing pin replacement
Probably the lubricants in the bolt have dried some and slowing down firing pin speed and travel depth. May have to dissamble, clean up, relube and reassemble. Might try using brake cleaner, stoddard solvent, Kroil or WD-40 too see if that makes an improvement by softening/thinning any lubricants within the bolt.

Welcome to the site.
You can adjust the firing pin length, and how far it extends past the bolt head.
Check out the FAQs section.

And when you get it apart to clean it don't forget the pin hole through the bolthead from the shaft to the bolt face. Its stepped from .095" or .145" ( depending on the age) to .068"-.069". That stepped portion of the bolthead is a prime place for gunk to collect and limit the pin protrusion. Pipe cleaners and solvent make quick work getting any stuff out.
Before reassembling the bolt set the bolthead on the firing pin and measure the protrusion. It will probably be in the .055 range give or take. If after you get the bolt back together and have misfires then you need to look at some other possible issues.
