Hey all, recently i picked up thishttp://i.imgur.com/4AMzFPN.jpg pretty 1906 and had the barrel relined (It was VERY badly pitted), and i keep seeing these pictures of 1903's with the lyman peep on the rear. Do any of you know what type of sight that is and where i can get a period correct one to fit this rifle?
Theres something goofy with that pic. It looks like someone put a model 1909 buttstock on a model 1903 rifle.
Either way your looking for a Marbles S2 or a Lyman SM tang sight.
I agree about the stock, I considered replacing it with a pistol grip stock but didn't just in case this one is original, thanks tons for the sight info, that's perfect!
Highly doubt it's original but if you want to, take the buttplate off and see if the serial number on the buttplate matches the one on your receiver.
