Always wondered about the durability of that camo style finish. You've partially answered that question in that its flaking off therefore its not very durable compared to bluing.
I was Told By One Of the water Dip Fellers Thet Deat Repelant would remove it like stripper Hope is helps
I stopped using DEET when it disolved the finish on my garden hoe handle. :o
