Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
I am a CERTIFIED LONG IN THE TOOTH OLD F*RT and this is the first .22 Rifle I have had since I was 16YO in High School (hint - 49 years ago) so pay attention to these targets 'cause its all in the rifle!
I went to a local indoor range and fired 5 rounds of 8 different .22LR cartridges. This was the first time out and my scope was not true yet.
Savage MKII BSEV with SWIFT 4 x 12 x 40MM scope with Parallax in the front optics.
Target is at 25 yards - maximum for this range.
Rifle right out of the box - just ran a clean patch through the first time.
I did not clean her out between the different ammo - probably should do that next time.
Rifle is supported on a rubber block, 12 inches tall x 4 inches x 4 inches, and the block does move around a bit.
In every target picture below I was aiming dead center of the circle then made a scope correction before shooting the next set.
AMMO #1 - Remington Target Ammo - Standard Velocity Round Nose Lead 40 GR.

AMMO #3 - Fiocchi Target Ammo 22LSP - Standard Velocity Round Nose Lead 40 GR.
The one shot to the left was definitely me - I pulled that one and knew it soon as I shot.

[b]First of all note that the worst set is the WOLF and that is still within a PENNY.[b/]

[b]The Best overall I picked the Remingtom Target Match set all 5 way within the dime because this was the first set and the scope was the farthest off site. Special mention needs to go to the CHEAPEST BOX IN THE TEST - Winchester SUPER-X:[b/]

[b]Next test will be at 50 yards - probably next week. All I can say is me and this Savage MKII BSEV will be partners for a lonnggg time!!!!
- and there may be a .17HMR or a .22WMR in the future - one of each would be perfect! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [b/]

Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
??? GB 45 How many hard earned $ did you have to part with for that baby? Been thinking about .22WMR and this could be the one. Quick
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
$50 less than a CZ 455 and has all the bells and whistles already included - $448 plus tax = $485.00 and Shop gave me extra 10 shot mag ($25) to go with it. ;D :o ::)
I WILL be getting at least a .22mag in this and would also like the .17HMR.
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
Thanks for the quick response. Looks like I may have found a reason to trade off a Ruger #1 .223 I've been warehousing for a while. Quick
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
What reticle does your Swift have?
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
I am not sure exactly what they call this but the cross hairs on my Swift scope make a very fine cross point as you can see in the image below. This makes it very easy to pinpoint a target center:

I am hoping to get to the range this week and shoot a 50 yard spread and 100 yard spread of the same ammo that I tested at 25 yards. Been busy with HONEY DO's lately!
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
I've been looking for something a bit more target oriented than my modified Ruger 10/22. Your golfbuddy, your post here has me now looking at the BSEV and the MKII FV. Good thing I just got a bigger safe. ;)
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
I can not tell you what a joy this rifle is to shoot. I haven't tried to adjust the factory trigger pull because it is perfect for me right out of the factory setting. I know there are many who want a feather touch trigger but I like to know that I at least fired it myself . . . . .
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
I have heard of some crazy accuracy for this version in 17HMR.
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
I am tossed between getting another one in .17HMR or .22WMR. I know .17 has a higher velocity but I have a .22Mag pistol and can share bullets like I do with my .44Mag Marlin 1894SS and .44Mag Ruger SuperRedhawk SS..
It will probably come to a coin toss - - or whichever the dealer can get the quickest!
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
I see you are saddled with the same 'bullet sharing' psychosis as I have.
(1) When buying a new gun "okay, does this come in XYZ cal, so I can share with ABC?"
or
(2) If buy this 'new' caliber what other new toys can I get?
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
Hey janizary, your OPTION (2) does open a lot of new windows doesn't it!!!
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
That's how I ended up with entirely too many FA's chambered for .22LR. The Savage MKII will just add to an already catty crowd. ;) Started off harmlessly enough, and got out of hand quickly.
I'm looking at the BRJ now. Spiral fluting like the BSEV, but standard stock layout. Wish they just made a MKII in BVSS format (or a BRJS as it were).
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
What I really have my eyes on is a Savage 12 BTCSS .223 cal. with the Stainless Fluted Barrel and the Thumbhole stock. BUT I can get a 17HMR BSEV PLUS a .22WMR BSEV for the price of a single BTCSS in .223.
A dilemma indeed!
Re: Awesome Savage MKII BSEV - A .22 TACKER RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX
That would be quite nice. ;D
My own 10PC (.308) has had me eyeballing another 10PC (in .223) so I can 'share ammo' with the other .223s I own.
