Bought this gun about a month ago.Shoots ok,but always thought the bolt felt funny on closing.
Further inspection came up with this:

Looks like the guys at the factory staked marked the receiver to allow clearance for the bump of metal left from casting the bolt.
Im still waiting for a reply from savage.
Anybody see anything like this?
That mark most probably came from the bolt handle, File it off.
Nope...Its about twice the size of the bump on the bolt handle and very uniform rectangular shape.Quote:

Give Savage a call (413 568-7001 EST) their customer service is top notch ask for Rob. I had an issue with my Hog Hunter (223Rem) the receiver wasn't tapped properly. Rob arranged pickup with UPS It took less then two weeks to get my Pig Sticker back with the issue resolved!Quote:

It does mean the sear is catching on the trigger when the bolt is closed and that it fires when the trigger is pulled.
