Quick question
I bought a savage today from a hunting buddy. I was told it was a weather warrior series. The trigger guard is broke and was going to order a new one and typed in the serial number on savages website and found out it is a trophy hunter xp instead. Not a real big deal because it is brand new and got a decent buy on it. My question is it is chambered in .260 rem. a .260 is a short action cartridge but on the barrel it is stamped model 116 .260 rem. anybody got a idea as to why it is a 116 and not a 16. And do I need to order scope mounts for a 16 or a 116. Thanks

Measure your action screw spacing and post back here....savage has built short actions on long actions before. Also...broken trigger guard is a definite indication it is a trophy hunter stainless. Weather worries have metal trigger guards that won't break.

Trophy Hunters were built on chrome moly receivers, 116 and 16 Weather Warriors were built on stainless actions. Is yours stainless?
