"Cheap way out" barrel/stock clearance

Also, both washers under the front lug.

Anything wrong with this idea?

How does it shoot with and without them?

1.3 MOA without. Haven't shot with yet.

in theory the resonating frequency of the bodies will be altered by the shims a bit,
for practical purpose you will not see any significant change rifle accuracy.
how much torque are you going to use? 20 inch/lb?

as long as it does not rattle, do have pillars?
I asked the same for SSS stocks (with pillars) and I was told by the expert, "finger tight" is fine :-)

If you look at the pics you'll see the front pillar, that's where I put one washer. No screws go into that pillar. Then the next pillar back is the one in the front bottom metal. I have a washer there too. The back pillar has a bottom screw that seats on wood not in bottom metal.

Ive seen someone else use milk carton plastic to shim the action aswell.
