Springfield/ Stevens 16 ga doublet

I need some help, as this was my grandfathers gun. The numbers all match and are E 37045 W. Can someone help me with year and worth.

Are you sure about that serial number?

It should start with a letter and then have 6 numbers.

Serial number is E 37045 MATCHED all over.

Made in 1984, can't give an estimate without knowing the condition.

I know it was before 1948 as i was born then and my grandfather had the gun. My grandfather has been deceased since 1984 and i've had the gun in a safe since then.
