What thread size should I use for muzzle brake?

I am planning to install a muzzle brake my 110, 300 win mag and I am just curious what thread size should I go with? I see 5/8-24 is used most often for .30 cal brakes, but one muzzle brake manufacturer in New Zealand suggested I go with a 3/4-24 thread instead of the 5/8-24 if I plan to use the factory Savage heavy barrel. He said it had something to do with how Savage barrels are made and if you use too small diameter thread the bore at the muzzle could open up slightly.
Perhaps something to do with stresses in the barrel being released?

Anyone heard of this being suggested before?

It really doesn't matter to me which thread size I use but I figured if I went with a more common 5/8-24 threaded muzzle brake it would be easier to sell it later on if I didn't like it.

Go with the 5/8-24 and be happy. I have threaded several barrels of varying bores and saw no difference in performance that I could relate to bore size. Performance always seemed to be improved by the brake for me.

I have had a couple of 45cal barrels (450BM and 458WM) that were both threaded 5/8-24 with no ill effects and that's about as thin a barrel sidewall as you will see. Both shoot fine.

If you feel better with 3/4-24 then go with it and just plan that if you sell it, let the brake go to0 for an easier sale, but 5/8-24 works just fine.

In theory, any time you remove material from the outside of a barrel it may allow the interior dimension to expand.

But theory and the real world are two completely different things.

I'd go with 5/8-24 and be happy.

I have all mine 5/8-24 so my same suppressor adapters can be run on everything.
