New guy here, thought I'd share a project - .308 Stevens 200+Detachable FAL mag
This is still a work in progress, but I wanted to share:

Right now I'm machining out an aluminum magwell and latch mechanism.
I'm documenting the project here:

Once the magazine work is finished, I may look into adding a stripper clip guide.

So what kind of sights are you going to put on it? Use of chargers (clips) will keep you from using a scope - receiver sight? forward mount scope? do tell!
Looks cool - I have a ton of FAL mags, but hi-cap bolt guns don't do much for me. I am more interested in your stripper conversion!!!

The guy I'm building this for is going to put a conventional scope on it, so stripper clips won't do much for him.
There do seem to be a number of other folks who like the idea as the basis for a scout rifle and they've heavily requested the stripper clip guide. Is there an off-the-shelf scout mount for these rifles, or am I going to have to add that to my list of things to make?
I'm pretty sure though that the strippers are only going to work with staggered feed guns, or ones like this that I've modified :-\

A little bump for my slow moving project.
I've got the magazine well roughed out pretty well, next I'll be fabricating a latch for it and inletting it into the stock.

There is usually a small demand from folks who shoot NRA Highpower who would like to be able to use stripper clips on a Savage action.
Re: New guy here, thought I'd share a project - .308 Stevens 200+Detachable FAL mag
i have played w/ what your doing quite a bit, are you planning in putting that on a staggerfeed action or centerfeed action? i could not reliably get it to feed on the centerfeed set ups, it would pull one side just fine but not the other, i did allot of modifying of the feed area on the mags, but by the time i got the shape i needed i had the metal too flimsy on my first attempt, on attempt 2 i could not get the spring steel to keep the tension i needed, i have tried fal mags, m1a, and armalite ar-10 mags, the armalite's actually worked pretty well, but i finally just bought two of sss's and said the hell w/ it.

This is a centerfeed action, but I've milled out the receiver rails a fair bit in order to let the magazine sit high enough to feed. The goal is to not need any modification of the magazines.
