Savage Stevens 311E
Hello! New here but not to forums. Hope I can learn and contribute.
I have a Savage Stevens 311E 12ga 2 3/4 chambers with checkering on the stocks. I believe it's appox. 1972 vintage, but I'm not sure and can't find out anything about this model per se. Does anyone know anything about it? I killed two Dove with it on Saturday, I can tell you that!

Re: Savage Stevens 311E
A serial number and I can tell you when it was made.
What else did you want to know?

Re: Savage Stevens 311E
I am reluctant to post the entire serial number on the web for privacy reasons. I would be interested in knowing how to determine the barrel choke types however. Will a partial number help?

Re: Savage Stevens 311E
Ya, usually thats what I get is a partial, it's all I need.
Eg: A4321XX
Also, have a look on the barrels and see if you can find any asterisks on them **.
I think your gun might be to modern to have the chokes marked though.

Re: Savage Stevens 311E
serial A3158xx 7w on the right and 31w on the left barrel at the chamber end.
Thanks for you help.

Re: Savage Stevens 311E
Made in 1969, not sure what the w stamps are, maybe just inspector or fitting marks.
If the barrel is 26" it's imp cyl and mod chokes and if it's a 28" it'l be mod and full choked.

Re: Savage Stevens 311E
It is the 26in model. Thanks for the info. Would you know which barrel would be the improved cylinder and which the modified?
Appreciate your help.

Re: Savage Stevens 311E
The right hand barrel will be the more open choke.
