Forend for Savage 64 Takedown

I just purchased a Savage 64 takedown. I only wish it had a forend, similar to what's on the Ruger 10-22 takedown. Has anyone tried modifying the ProMag Tactical folding stock to work with the Savage 64 takedown? It would requiring cutting off the forend portion of the ProMag stock, and figuring a way to have it reattached to the barrel. I am assuming the stock itself would also need to be modified slightly to give room for the barrel nut.

Anyway, would appreciate any comments and suggestions, including other brands of forends that you think might work. Thanks.
