Yeah...Quiksteel, fantastic stuff...molded it like silly putty, shaped it with a rasp and file, sanded with 800 grit, primed and painted.
Not to shabby!

Is the existing knob on the factory bolt solid or hollow?
I have thot about doing something similar but drilling and tapping and putting a machine screw in then molding JB Weld around it.
The knob is solid, but the handle is hollow right before the first recess. I was able to thread it still and install an after market knob.
OK. I hadn't thot about cutting the knob off and threading the shaft. . .
I'll have to think about that. . At this point the only thing I want to do to my 223 Edge is restock it. . It is so accurate that I don't want to chance messing it up. . I was bummed the last time I was in Anchorage that I couldn't find an Axis or Edge in 243. I want to get one for myself and one for a nephew.
I want to make one into a switch barrel for myself. 243 and 6.5 Creedmoor. That one I want to extend the bolt handle on.
I ground the knob down and threaded it to keep it nice and long. That's where you get the extra leverage from! I got the D.D. Robbins tactical knob from Brownells.
Also shown in my build thread!
I like how it matches the camo. That's a nice touch as well!
That's what I did! Here's the crummy video I did.
All done...(Unless I come across an Axis SR barrel in .308 w/muzzle break). Bolt knob mod fit just fine with the new Boyd's FT Thumbhole as well...
