Long action bolthead to short action, compatabile ????????

Can you use a long action bolthead in a short action bolt ?

If the baffle lacks the extension as used for the .223 in a long action, it should work.

Savage made two differnt diameters of firing pin. You can read about it under the SSS vendor website on this same site.
When ordering a bolt head, that is the crucial point, I think. I ordered a 6PPC bolthead and that was the only thing to know.
I have an older savage with a dfifferent diameter than my newer one. It had to do with strengthing a particular part.

I have had to shorten the shank on some long action bolt heads that I wanted to use in a short action bolt. Can't say 100% that you will have to do that in every instance, but I think that is the case.
