like load data for the 260 Remington in a 516 Striker, love using Load Data for most stuff - all the 260 REM info is for long bbls. Figure I need a faster powder and would like to stay on the light side. Using Nosler 100 Gr spitzers. Appreciate know what anybody has had success shooting in (even something close in size to 260) Thanks
I have used imr 4064 ever since i got a rem model 7 with the 20 inch barrel. Try starting with about 36 grains with the 120 grain sierra and top out around 38 or 39 grains. With a 100 grain bullet try starting around 38 grains and you will top out between 40 and 41 grains. These are not real hot loads but they are accurate in my model 7
4064 is a definate move in the right direction. Good call Georgiatom.
If your Striker has a 15 inch or longer barrel, you can use most anything. I have a 7x444 Encore that shoots RL19 well. But, I usually try to stay with the faster powder in the short barrel. Varget, RL 15, 4895 should all work.

I use IMR 4064 in .204 Ruger,.222 Remington TC 15" .223, 6.5 Creedmoor, .260 Remington, 7mm-08 TC 15", 7-30 Waters TC 15", .308 Winchester, and so on. I use 39.0 grains under a 123 SST with a 22" barrel .260 Savage. 4064 is my starting powder with most all short action rounds, great stuff.
Thanks for the input -- I will add 4064 into the stock and try it out - Did fine the IMR has a great powder burn rate chart. Have almost all the main powders and list them fast to slow. neat to see where things fit on that list!
Yup the short bbl is the thing that tripped me up a little. Going to roll with 4064 to start. The IMR burn rate PDF list powders fast to slow. Shows 4895 above 4064 so if the first attempt turns bad I head that way. Thanks
Many years back Jack O Conner wrote an article where he suggested 4320 over 4064 for the 06 size cases which I was using.
His reasoning was that the burn rate was close but it went thru the powder measure easier and more consistant due to grain size.
I was never a big fan of Jack O Conner, but I did try the powder and still thank him for that advise.
It meters so nice I rarely bother weighing the charges, and I no longer even buy 4064.
About 5/6 years ago I picked up a new Savage 308 as I recall FCP model which is a fairly heavy gun with a brake for my then 12 year old grandson to practice distance shooting at rocks on the hill opposite our camp.
I brought it to the camp from the store in Clearfield PA andunpacked it and cleaned the barrel.
I then loaded some rounds with as I recall 42 gr of 4320 with a 150 SMK and went outside to shoot.
After getting the scope zeroed I fired one of the best 5 shot groups ive ever shot, easily covered with a nickle.
First group, never even lightened up on the trigger pull, fact is im not so sure it has been yet.
So much for working up a load for it, and was I ever disappointed, I almost felt cheated. lol
When we ran out of 150s we started using 175s because of all the Sierra rejects I have. Didn't matter, the gun likes them also.
He took a Porcupine out of a tree at almost 900 with the thing on that hill.
If you haven't tried 4320 do yourself a favor and try it and tell old Jack thanks.
Ended up rooling with 39gr or 4064 for the 260 striker 15" BBL Crony was showing 2650 and I am happy with that in a pistol! Pretty good groups - but more interested in the crony then the target - So down the road I will work at a smaller group and some 200 yd work - Thanks to all who chimed in.
